Mike Bennie on the 2019 Vintage ’Chewy, tight and chalky, lean in a way but great in that respect too. Dried apricot, mandarin, blood orange characters here and all of this shot through with a kind of garrigue and white pepper character. It’s an intriguing, wonderful, delicious wine of great personality and finesse. Yes thanks.’
On the 2021 : 94 points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front "The 2021 is along the same lines as the 2019. An intriguing wine that really surprises. The apricot notes at the front have the right degree of subtlety and is a great combo with the flashing shades of white pepper on the back. The correct balance of acid tops off this superb value for money gem. Serious enough but also super sessionable".
The Salomon family have thoughtfully crafted this variety into a delicious easy going style. The extended skin contact has also blessed it with nice underlying complexity for its level, that will also hold the attention of the more serious enthusiasts. This wine and the ‘Wildflower’ Syrah are Salomon essays on what is possible when bringing old world palates to a new world setting! TC
