GAMAY 2024
The style of Gamay we produce uses a combination of traditional Gamay techniques. There is 10% Pinot Noir used in the blend. Half of the Gamay was cold macerated where the fruit is picked cold, crushed and left to soak for 4 days before fermentation starts. Of the rest, 20% of the fruit is left whole in the ferment. Fermentation with natural yeast is for 2 weeks on skins, after which the wine is pressed and matured in oak for eleven months.
The bouquet of the 2024 Gamay shows cherry and plum with some earthy undertones. The aromas follow onto the palate combining with integrated acid and refined tannins which create a very well-balanced wine, finishing with great length.

95 Pts Mike Bennie, The Wine Front 'It feels somewhat pinot-like, slinky, silky, supple, all bright red cherry fruits, pomegranate juice, sweet spice with savoury elements lightly laid in. Alongside, some shiitake mushroom, faint game meat, white pepper and a good splash of blood orange zestiness to finish. A touch of caraway seed and cinnamon in the mix. Lots on. It feels curiously light, very delicious, energetic – the takeaway is this is a very much so a lither version of this wine. That being said, all class. And drinkability through the roof. Date: May 2025; Alcohol: 13.6%; Closure: Cork; Drink: 2025-2035'
SAUVIGNON BLANC SEMILLON 2024
This wine comprising 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris. Most of the Sauvignon Blanc fruit had 4 hours skin contact prior to pressing. The Semillon component is crushed and pressed immediately after picking. This wine was 100% barrel fermented with predominantly larger barrels used. All went through natural yeast fermentation and malolactic fermentation. The extended lees contact helps fill out the middle palate and gives this wine the extra dimension it is known for.
The 2024 bouquet shows lemon and lime with hints of cucumber. The citrus notes are vibrant on the palate and intermingle with crisp acid, balanced with a rounded mouth feel leaving a lingering finish. Sorrenberg
96 Pts Mike Bennie, The Wine Front 'For me, probably one of my most anticipated Australian wines of the year. I buy it with impunity and drink it with gusto. I rarely cellar because I forget to and wish I did. A little more subtle this year, seek out the fine detail and elegance. Despite this, the underpinning of biodynamic farming, in the backyard, alongside gentle handling in winery, barrel conditioning, lees work, texture as a primacy, all work for me so well. I tasted this over quite a while, a bit like Adrian Mole waiting for Giro, so hence the review....'
This wine is one that should not be served too cold and often benefits from a bit of air/decant; indeed, it loves a little cellar time too. This is a must have cellar staple! TC
