The Wine
The flagship wine from Guardasole & the 2020 is a particularly strong release of this wine. 80% Nebbiolo & 20% Vespolina grown on the volcanic soils of Boca at 490m - in the sub region of Traversagna. Aged in large mature wood.
The 2020 edition is impeccably balanced. Just verging on medium bodied. Red fruits, cherry (hints of kirsch), delicately spiced. A real ferrous minerality - feeling of iron & blue stone. A long finish of ultra fine tannins with subtle balsamic notes (the hallmark of Boca).
97 Pts, Lisa Cardelli, The Wine Pilot 'A blend of 80% Nebbiolo and 20% vespolina from a tiny three hr of 70-year-old vines. Punchy nose with its overtly aromatic, floral character, partly from that volatile acidity that gives the lift but does not overtake the wine. Red wild berries, balsamic notes and iron. I love the incredibly juicy palate, squeezed red and black berries, and an ironstone scar that donates character and complexity to this fabulous wine. Incredible length. Tenute Guardasole is one to watch.'

About the Wine Maker 
Tenute Guardasole stemmed from the desire of Marco Bui (winemaker) to return to his homeland of Boca (Alto Piemonte). In no time at all Guardasole have become a benchmark maker in Alto Piemonte, working a mere two hectares of land in the Traversagna road area of Boca.
The organically certified wines of Guardasole are attracting lofty praise from some of the world’s most important wine writers such as Antonio Galloni.
Having spent time in the corporate world Marco has returned to his family land, which has been farmed to Nebbiolo & Vespolina since the 1800s, with a desire to highlight the remarkable terroir of Boca. Marco’s wines are spotlessly clean, remarkably polished yet very concentrated – utterly delicious!
