17/20 Andy Howard MW jancisrobinson.com '3.94 ha. Harvested 8–9 September. 30% whole cluster, 33% new oak, 20 months in barrel. Les Lavières refers to the flat stones that characterise this plot. Trade only.  Bright, modern, youthful appearance. Spice and wood notes, elegant and juicy. Expensive for Savigny, judging by the trade price, but certainly high quality. Drink 2026 - 2035'

89-92 Pts Allen Meadows, Burgound 'There is just enough wood to notice on the cooler and airier aromas of red currant and softer earth influence. The notably finer flavors are seductively textured while retaining good detail on the solidly persistent finish that firms up noticeably on the moderately austere finale. This is also going to require at least a modicum of patience as it's pretty tightly wound today. Dronk 2033+'

89-91 Pts Jasper Morris MW 'The Savigny Lavières starts out with an invigorating fresh purple colour, with a delicious raspberry fruit. Much purer than the Clos du Château seems today. Slightly earthy at the finish, which is very long. Drink from 2029-2034.'

About the Wine Maker

Vignoble des Cabottes is the new name for some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. Founded in 2025, the estate brings together 35 hectares of historic climats: 10 hectares of Grand Cru on the slopes of Puligny-Montrachet and Corton hill, plus 22 hectares of Premier Cru in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Meursault, and Volnay. The 2023 vintage marks its first release, born from one of Burgundy’s most notable recent restructurings.

After Groupe Artémis acquired Bouchard Père et Fils, the holdings were carefully divided. Vignoble des Cabottes received the most prestigious parcels—Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Le Corton, and top Beaune Premiers Crus like Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus and two historic monopoles. Many of these plots have been under Bouchard’s ownership since the late 18th and 19th centuries. Longtime caretaker of these vineyards, winemaker Frédéric Weber, now leads the new estate, while the remaining Côte de Beaune vineyards remain under the Bouchard Père name with Mickael Baroin, Weber’s longtime oenologist, at the helm.

The first vintages carry the Vignoble des Cabottes label. French law initially barred the use of the Domaine designation for a new estate, even though all wines were estate-grown and domaine-produced. Starting with the 2025 vintage, the name changes to Domaine des Cabottes, reflecting the domaine spirit present from the beginning.

The name pays homage to the Cabottes, small drystone shelters scattered across the Côte d’Or vineyards, and honors a cuvée crafted since 1997: Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte, a 0.21-hectare parcel at the meeting point of Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet, where one of the estate’s Cabottes still overlooks the vines.
