The Wine

This special harvest of Madeira wine was selected from a year of very fine vintage of a single grape variety, the production of which as assured by control of the quality of the grapes, ideal ripening conditions, and a process of vinification which combines modern technology with our art of wine-making learned over a century of experience.

D’Oliveira Verdelhos stand out for their sharp balance of sweetness and acidity. This medium-dry style of Madeira offers a bit more concentration and richness than Sercial, with inviting notes of spice, smoke, hay, and light caramel. You might also catch hints of cucumber, pear, vanilla, orange, and lemon. Timeless!

About the Wine Maker

D'Oliveira is an independent Madeira wine producer, run by descendants of its founding family. The company is owned by three brothers, with Aníbal and Luís D'Oliveira overseeing operations. They represent the fifth generation dedicated to crafting, marketing, and exporting Madeira wine, carrying forward a long tradition of expertise and passion.
The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.
