The Wine

92 Pts, Decanter Candied nose of red fruits, restrained, mineral, fresh precision of aromas. Clean and pure, with good intensity.

The 2022 Paolo Scavino Dolcetto d’Alba DOC is a vibrant and expressive take on Piedmont’s beloved red varietal. Its deep ruby hue sets the stage for an inviting aromatic profile, where notes of dark cherry, plum, and blackberry mingle with delicate violet and subtle spice.
On the palate, this Dolcetto is generous and fruit‑forward, offering ripe dark berries balanced by a gentle earthiness and refreshing acidity. Fine, well‑integrated tannins create a smooth, velvety texture that carries through to a lingering, satisfying finish.
Crafted by the esteemed Paolo Scavino estate—one of Piedmont’s most respected producers—this vintage highlights the purity and charm of Dolcetto at its best. It’s an excellent companion to hearty pasta dishes, grilled meats, and rustic Italian fare.

About the Wine Maker

Paolo Scavino established the estate in 1921 in the historic township of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Langhe region in Piemont. The estate is owned and managed by two generations of Scavino; Enrico who followed in the footsteps of his father Paolo, and his daughters Enrica and Elisa. The modern history of the Scavino family starts with a vineyard known in the local dialect as Bric dël Fiasc within the Fiasco cru. Here the Nebbiolo grapes yield consistently great wines. In 1978 young Enrico convinced his father Paolo to vinify these grapes separately. In this way this much sought-after cru was established and it has since risen to the summit of Barolo.

'Enrico Scavino and his daughters Elisa and Enrica stand out from their peers for their never-ending search for quality. Scavino is one of the great, established families in Piedmont.'' Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
