Mont de Marie 'Antatheme' Rouge (VdT 2023)
The Wine
Majority Carignan together with Cinsault with a little of the prized Aramon (the ‘Poulsard’ of Languedoc). Whole bunch maceration together for 5 days, free-run and press-juices assembled together and aged 9 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, no additions. As the label suggests, this is the ideal ‘Park’ drinking’ red. At 11.5% alc, it’s bright, nimble, juicy with fine grained tannin that could also take a chill. - sit back, clear the mind and smell the roses!
Classified as Vin de Table.

About the Wine Maker
Mont de Marie is situated approx. 45kms northeast of Montpellier, in the southwest of France.
Owner/Winemaker Thierry Forestier (pictured below) used to be in I.T but his parents were farmers, and in his thirties he returned to the land and bought his property of 11 hectares that he has farmed organically ever since, in fact it was farmed that way when he bought it.
One fan of Thierry is Eric Pfifferling of iconic 'L'Anglore. He was drawn to MdM initially by the grape varieties Thierry culivated, specifically Aramon - and together with Cinsault, Carignan and Grenache - varieties that suit the climate and express subtlety and finesse - with vines age averaging over 80 years!
Thierry is fastidious and makes his wine much like Eric at L'Anglore, hyper observation with minimal intervention, the result being vibrant and sensitive wines with plenty of flavour but with freshness and finesse unlike any wines made in this part of France!
These wines are a revelation and come highly recommended!
