The Wine

Made from a blend of Chardonnay from Kooyong's estate Tuerong and Balnarring vineyards, the 2021 Kooyong Clonale Chardonnay opens with aromatic purity, showing lime, nectarine and green plum aromas, intertwined with hints of nougat and rolled oats.

The wine moves across the palate effortlessly, with soft orchard fruit flavours on the mid-palate. This is backed by delicate lemon and grapefruit acidity that pulls the palate long and taut, with subtle oak support. Another high quality, great value Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay from the team at Kooyong.

"This first tier for Kooyong is fabulous. Requisite white stone fruit, citrus and tangy acidity but it is the depth on the palate and vitality that sets the scene. Grilled nuts, leesy complexity, moreish and savoury. Spot on. Drink by 2027."

About the Wine Maker

Kooyong is planted to 40 hectares of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris between an altitude of 105 and 120m above sea level. The first vines were planted in 1996 and the original blocks comprise five distinct sites of which three are planted to Pinot Noir and two to Chardonnay. As our viticultural understanding of the property has developed we have planted two more sites to Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, applying a higher density planting model. The best section of each vineyard is reserved for the Single Vineyard wines.
