The Wine

This small parcel, known as a 'Clos', formerly belonged to the Kings of France. It was considered as one of the appellation's best parcels and was purchased by the Faiveley family in 1971. The palate offers good balance, rich aromas and delicate tannins.
A standout!

About the Wine Maker

It was Guy Faiveley who in 1964 decided to expand the vineyard holdings of Domaine Faiveley into the Côte Chalonnaise mainly in the Village of Mercurey, The main reason for the purchase was to be able to offer good value wines from Burgundy since already back then the wines from the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune were expensive! Mercurey is mainly a red appellation but there is a small amount of Mercurey Blanc made from Chardonnay both on village and premier cru sites.
